La OMS la establecido que es conveniente, importante y urgente la investigación e implementación de programas que promuevan y mantengan la salud mental.Asu vez nuestra Constitución Nacional garantiza el derecho a la salud, "... derecho que toda persona tiene al disfrute del más alto nivel posible de salud física y mental". Así, el Estado argentino tiene la obligación de adoptar las siguientes medidas a fin de asegurar la efectividad deestederecho:*Prevenciónytratamientodelasenfermedades (...) y la lucha contra ellas. *Creación de condiciones que aseguren a todos asistencia médica y servicios médicos en caso de enfermedad. El objetivo de esta investigación, acorde con lo establecido anteriormente será el de investigar y trazar un perfil de la población que acude a las consultas de urgencia con perturbaciones psíquicas en un hospital general el conurbano bonaerense con la finalidad de establecer el tipo de patología y características de la población consultante que permitan en un futuro trazar estrategias para la prevención y promoción de la salud mental. Palabras clave Salud Urgencia Prevención Estrategia ABSTRACT THE EMERGENCIES AT A MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE OF A GENERAL HOSPITAL: DATA-ANALYSIS AND POSSIBLE INTERVENTIONS. The WHO in the Jakarta Conference 2000 presented a Declaration on action for health promotion into the next century stating that: Health is a basic human right and is essential for social and economic development. Demographic trends such as urbanization, pose new problems in all countries. Social, behavioural and biological changes such as increased drug abuse, and civil and domestic violence threaten the health and well-being of hundreds of millions of people. New and reemerging disorders, and the greater recognition of mental health problems, require an urgent response. The five strategies set out are essential for success: · build healthy public policy · create supportive environments · strengthen community action · develop personal skills · reorient health services. The main objective of this research, is to study the population that required Emergency assistance, because of a mental disorder, at a suburban General Hospital of Buenos Aires city. The investigation will focus on types of psycopathology disorders, and socio-demographic factors of the consulting population.
