El objetivo del estudio fue identificar las representaciones sociales sobre el psicólogo a partir de indagar el por qué eligió la carrera y las expectativas de actuación profesional en estudiantes del último año de la carrera de Psicología de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán. La metodología utilizada fue de tipo cualitativo mediante la aplicación de cuestionario y análisis de contenido temático. El estudio se fundamentó en la teoría de las representaciones sociales de Moscovici y Jodelet, y es parte de un proyecto de investigación en curso sobre dificultades en el tránsito académico de estudiantes de las carreras de psicología y de ciencias de la educación de la U.N.T. Los resultados obtenidos muestran una significativa incidencia de la representación social del psicólogo con orientación clínica terapéutica que incide como obstáculo epistemológico para poder visualizar una imagen profesional no alineada a lo clínico que, muy a menudo, se traduce en un vacío del perfil para ubicar expectativas de actuación profesional en otras áreas. The used methodology was of qualitative type by means of the application of questionnaire and analysis of thematic content. The study was based on the theory of the social representations of Moscovici and Jodelet, and it is part of a project of investigation in course on difficulties in the academic transit of students of the careers of psychology and sciences of the education of the U.N.T. The obtained results show a significant incidence of the social representation of the psychologist with clinical; therapeutic direction that affects like epistemologic obstacle to be able to visualize an not aligned professional image to the clinical thing that, quite often, it is translated in an emptiness of the profile to locate expectations of professional performance in other areas.
