Resumen Esta ponencia explora las percepciones que tienen los docentes de las problemáticas del medio rural y las exigencias que el actual contexto le plantea a la educación rural en pro del desarrollo social sustentable. Se utilizó la Investigación-Acción como enfoque metodológico. En el actual contexto socio-económico, la Escuela Rural, como nodo social, adquiere un rol trascendente en el Desarrollo Social sustentable, reflejando el sentido de Identidad y Pertenencia de la Población Rural Resumen en Inglés Summary This article collects the information from a exploratory study about the school teacher ’ s perception about the problematics in the rural medium and the demands that the present context states to the rural education for the benefit of the social sustainable development. We used the accion-research methodology. In the actual socioeconomic enviroment the rural school must assume a trascendental role in the goals of sustainable development empowering the rural identity.
