Resumen
Joining an association means voluntarily joining a group to share or achieve common purposes or goals. This activity can be seen as a meeting point. Our participation in those meeting spaces makes us being present, part of, taken into account and engaged. To participate is to influence and to take responsibility. It is a process that necessarily links individuals to groups. Being a participant involves being a co-agent, a partner, a cooperating subject and a co-author. Through participation we aim to influence decisions and being taken into account, although it is no easy task. The discussed and contrasted proposals must be translated, if possible, into a set of agreements that have a broad support in a community and are yet effective in addressing the problems that may arise as a consequence of that participation. Participating requires a personal effort on the part of all actors involved, those that belong to the areas of governance and those who are voluntarily involved; it also requires a process of constant readjustment.
