Resumen
In the present text we establish that the Great War is not the first war of world proportions in history. In the arguing we employ four factors to arrive to an estimation of the “level” of world range achieved by the primordial military confrontations in history. These four factors are: a) proportional death toll, b) proportional direct military participation, c) geography and d) global destruction of principal political entities. According to the data produced by the four factors in conjunction we corroborate that there are five wars of world range previous to the Great War. The Eurocentric historiography has spread the idea of the Great War as the first global war in history, when there is no hard data to corroborated such assertion; on the contrary, exist hard data to establish that five wars previous to 1914 are of a world magnitude. Such five world wars happened in the following temporalities: I) 88 to 50 b. C., II) 1206 to 1227, III) 1370 to 1403, IV) 1519 to 1556 and V) 1789 to 1825. Each of the wars could have more or equal a) proportional death toll, b) proportional direct militaryparticipation, c) geographical range and/or d) global destruction of principal political entities, than the Great War. At the end we question the chronology of the Great War, for achieving a more global history and against the Eurocentric historiography of the twenty century. Also we explain and corroborate with data that other wars previous to 1914 such like the Medic Wars, the Conquests of Alexander the Great or Justinian, are not of world proportions
