El avance tecnológico y la creciente disponibilidad de acceso a Internet, junto con las amplias posibilidades de accesibilidad y portabilidad, han posibilitado la emergencia de nuevas vías y modalidades de maltrato escolar dando lugar a lo que en la literatura internacional ha sido denominado cyberbullying. Este se define como una conducta agresiva e intencional, por parte de un individuo o grupo que, utilizando medios de comunicación electrónica, se repite de forma frecuente en el tiempo sobre una persona que no puede defenderse fácilmente por sí misma. Este tipo de maltrato ocurre en una sociedad en la que las tecnologías tienen un papel cada vez más relevante en la mayoría de las actividades de los niños, niñas y adolescentes, y en los modos de interacción entre ellos; de allí la necesidad de repensar el maltrato escolar dentro de este nuevo contexto. Se presentarán resultados sobre las distintas características que este fenómeno adquiere en nuestro contexto obtenidos mediante la administración de diversos instrumentos a una muestra conformada por 259 estudiantes de escuelas secundarias ubicadas en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Se discutirán las implicancias de los resultados hallados a fin de contribuir con la adecuada prevención y abordaje de esta problemática. THE SCHOOL ABUSE IN THE ERA 2.0 The technological advance and the increasing availability of Internet access, together with the wide possibilities of accessibility and portability, have made possible the emergence of new ways and methods of peer abuse in schools giving rise to what in international literature has been called cyberbullying. This is defined n aggressive, intentional act or behavior that is carried out by a group or an individual, using electronic forms of contact, repeatedly and over time against a victim who cannot easily defend him or herself. This type of abuse occurs in a society in which technologies play an increasingly relevant role in most of the activities of children and adolescents, and in the modes of interaction between them; hence the need to rethink peer abuse in schools within this new context. Results will be presented on the different characteristics that this phenomenon acquires in our context obtained by means of the administration of diverse instruments to a sample conformed by 259 students of secondary schools located in Buenos Aires.The implications of the results found will be discussed in order to contribute to the adequate prevention and approach of this problem.
