Dentro del amplio campo de la psicología clínica, se han realizado pocas investigaciones en torno a los motivos de consulta. En la literatura revisada hay diferentes clasificaciones con diversas categorizaciones (Gurevich y Muraro, 2011; Martínez Ferro, 2006; Sotelo y Belaga, 2006; Quesada, 2004). En la presente investigación empírica se indagaron los motivos que llevaron a 73 sujetos a consultar en la metrópolis de Buenos Aires. Se realizaron entrevistas luego de finalizados los tratamientos en las cuales, a su vez, se indagaron la percepción de cambio y la relación terapéutica. Los datos se analizaron con el método cualitativo CQR y luego se articularon teóricamente desde el paradigma psicoanalítico. Los motivos se organizaron en tres dominios similarmente distribuidos: problemáticas asociadas a los trastornos mentales, dificultades en las relaciones interpersonales y crisis vitales. Se encontró que los pacientes presentan múltiples motivos de consulta y suelen percibir cambios inesperados luego de transitar una terapia. Los resultados también sugieren que la relación terapéutica podría moderar la relación entre los motivos iniciales y los resultados del tratamiento, si bien se requieren mayores indagaciones (Olivera, 2015). Se discutirán las implicancias clínicas desde el abordaje psicoanalítico. EMPIRICAL INVESTIGATION WITH PSYCHOANALYTIC ARTICULATION INTRODUCTION: Among the clinical psychology field little research has been conducted from the psychoanalytic approach about the reasons for consultation, meaning those motives that help people make the decision to contact a mental health provider. Current literature includes authors that classify reasons using the participants´own words (Quesada, 2004), authors that categorize their reasons according to diagnostic manual disorders (Gurevich & Muraro, 2011; Sotelo & Belaga, 2006), and those that use psychoanalytic vocabulary (Martinez Ferro, 2006). The present empirical research study aims to assess the reasons for consultation of 73 psychotherapy former patients of Buenos Aires City. METHODS: We conducted in depth interviews after treatment termination were change perception and therapeutic relationship were also assessed. We analyzed data with CQR methodology and articulated the results from the psychoanalytic paradigm. RESULTS: Most mentioned reasons for consultation were organized in three broad domains similarly distributed among participants: Problems associated to mental disorders, difficulties in interpersonal relationships and life crisis. Our findings suggest that patients´usually have more than one reason to consult for psychotherapy. Additionally they perceive changes beyond those reasons and in different areas, while the therapeutic relationship seems to moderate the relationship between reasons and outcome.
