El trabajo aborda la singularidad de los lazos de amor que atraviesan la vida del escritor francés Gèrard de Nerval (1808-1855). La vida y obra nervaliana se destacan por la exaltación y relevancia que cobra en ellas, la figura de la mujer a través de la búsqueda dolorosa, mística y eterna de lo femenino encarnado en distintas mujeres reales y ficticias que pueblan su mundo. ¿Qué estatuto darle al amor, y al partenaire respecto de los lazos? ¿Constituye su obra un recurso para metabolizar el encuentro al Otro sexo y su inserción en un lazo discursivo o de amor? Las damas amadas ocupan un lugar idealizado al modo del Ideal del yo. A través del artificio discursivo de la escritura intentará metabolizar, en el orden simbólico algo de lo real del Otro sexo, haciéndolo pasar por la letra e insertándose en un lazo social. Este intento alcanzará su fin ante el fracaso de su última pieza teatral en la que lo femenino aparece acentuado como amenaza de su propia destrucción y la muerte se torna necesaria como un límite al ya no poder encontrar en la cadena significante los elementos de una significación subjetiva que le permita justificar su existencia.
