La noción de matema es el pivote que sostiene la elaboración de Lacan de los años ´70. Asegura la transmisibilidad integral de un saber. Lacan descubre que, al igual que en la matemática, se puede cifrar el saber en un elemento mínimo. “El matema se profiere del único real reconocido primero en el lenguaje, a saber, el número (…) en el matema está en juego lo real del decir del número”. En la clínica del autismo es usual observar que los sujetos encuentran en la matematización un recurso que les permite cifrar y condensar lo que se presenta en exceso del lado del Otro. El niño de 5 años que presentaremos, despertó nuestro interés, porque ilustra el intento de reducir la presencia del Otro del significante y los cálculos que va operando a lo largo del trabajo analítico para construir una distancia exacta respecto de él. En el autismo el Otro no se torna ni persecutorio ni gozador, simplemente al autista le perturban los signos de la existencia del Otro, pues falta la resta, la negativización de la operación significante. El Otro, cuando no está en el lugar simbólico, se torna real, por doquier se encuentran sus signos vitales.
