El presente trabajo se enmarca dentro de un proyecto de investigación que lleva por título “La noción freudiana de alteración del yo: obstáculo en la clínica”, cuyo marco teórico es psicoanalítico. Este estudio tiene como objetivo realizar un desarrollo teórico- conceptual de la relación íntima que se sostiene entre el carácter y la pulsión, cuyo articulador es el concepto de fijación en la obra de Freud. Para ello, se partirá de la hipótesis freudiana que establece que el carácter es una de las resistencias mayores en la cura psicoanalítica. El carácter no obedece al mecanismo de la represión. No es un fenómeno del retorno de lo reprimido. El carácter es la huella misma de la memoria pulsional. Por lo tanto, se diferencia de las formaciones inconscientes, siendo su principal manifestación: el síntoma neurótico. Asimismo, distinguiremos dos dimensiones del carácter: el carácter como “síntoma defensivo primario” y el carácter como formación reactiva. Desde esta perspectiva, se recortará la interrogación acerca de ¿cuál es la maniobra analítica que convoca el carácter como obstáculo a la clínica del inconsciente?, en tanto que el carácter es una formación más opaca y menos asequible respecto del desciframiento inconsciente. The aim of this study is to carry out a theoretical-conceptual development of the intimate relationship between character and drive, whose articulator is the concept of fixation in Freud’s work. For this, it will be based on the Freudian hypothesis that character is one of the major resistances in the psychoanalytic cure. The character does not obey the mechanism of repression. It is not a phenomenon of the return of the repressed. The character is the very imprint of the drive memory. Therefore, it differs from the unconscious formations, being its main manifestation: the neurotic symptom. Likewise, we will distinguish two dimensions of the character: the character as “primary defensive symptom” and the character as reactive formation. From this perspective, the question about “what analytical maneuver that convenes the character as an obstacle to the clinic of the unconscious?” will be cut, while the character is a more opaque and less accessible formation with respect to the unconscious deciphering.
