En “Análisis terminable e interminable”, la finalización de un análisis encuentra un doble obstáculo: a) el falo y el “obstáculo” de la “roca base” de la castración y b) las pulsiones fijadas al objeto parcial, las resistencias estructurales del Ello y del Superyó, soporte de los mecanismos de defensa como presencia de “infantilismos en la sexualidad adulta”. Esto fue retomado por Lacan en el grafo del deseo, cuando pone en relación a cuatro elementos: el deseo del Otro, el fantasma, la pulsión y el significante del Otro tachado. El S(?) representa la continuidad epistémica de la problemática del fin de análisis freudiano. Cuando reformula un concepto freudiano fundamental -el falo- e inventa dos conceptos: el S(?) y el objeto a, es que Lacan puede despejar los caminos que permiten resolver el callejón sin salida del fin de análisis. S(?) quiere decir que, en algún lugar del orden significante, hay una falta y en ella se aloja “la Otra cosa”: la libido y el goce. Del S(?) hemos interpretado dos dimensiones: a) “no hay”: la castración, la falta y el agujero; “no hay relación sexual” b) “hay”: la exigencia pulsional, el Ello, el significante nuevo, la letra, “hay-lo-Uno”.
