Antecedentes: En un Hospital General de Argentina el ingreso de los consultantes al Servicio de Salud Mental está determinado por un dispositivo que consta de dos instancias: el “Espacio de Orientación” (EO) y el “Espacio de Admisión” (EA). Estos espacios conforman los primeros niveles de contacto y buscan mejorar la accesibilidad. Objetivo: Evaluar mediante la realización de un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo, transversal, cuantitativo el uso por parte de los consultantes del EO y EA de adultos como vías de acceso a la atención, identificando a su vez los diferentes factores asociados. Método: Se realizó el análisis descriptivo de los registros de entrevistas de Orientación y Admisión de adultos solicitadas por consultantes derivados por diferentes servicios y efectores, o que se presentaron de forma espontánea, de marzo 2016 a marzo 2017. Resultados: Se registraron 549 turnos solicitados para el EO. 67,57% fueron mujeres. El 58,65% asistió a la entrevista. Las solicitudes provenientes del hospital fueron del 45%, espontaneas 39%, otros efectores de salud 12%. El 57,46% fue derivado al EA, y de estos, el 93,28% iniciaron tratamiento. Conclusiones: La implementación del EO en articulación con el EA resulta útil para mejorar el acceso y la calidad de atención de los consultantes. Palabras clave Espacio de Orientación - Admisión - Salud Mental ABSTRACT IMPLEMENTATION OF A ORIENTATIONAL INTERVIEW IN A ACUTE HOSPITAL’S MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE Background: In an Acute Hospital from Argentina the initial assessment is determined by a double stepped evaluation which consists of an “Orientational Interview” (OI) and an “Admission interview” (AI). These two assessment interviews are the first level of contact between the Hospital’s Mental health Service and patients, and aim to increase treatments accessibility. Objective: To evaluate through a descriptive, retrospective, transversal and quantitative study the use of adult persons with mental health problems of the OI and AI as a means of access to treatment, identifying at the same time their different associated factors. Methods:A descriptive analysis of the OI and AI’s registrations from adult patients referred from different services, institutions, or self-referred, from March 2016 to March 2017, was performed. Results: 549 appointments requested for the OI were registered. 67,57% were women. 58,65% attended the interview. Referrals from different services of the base hospital were 45%, self-referred 39%, from the rest of the health system 12%. After de OI, the 57,46% were referred to the AI, and from this group 93,28% started treatment. Conclusions: The implementation of the OI working together with the AI becomes useful to improve patient’s accessibility and service quality.
