El Secreto Profesional o deber de confidencialidad es una norma que estipula la obligación que tiene el psicólogo de mantener bajo reserva toda aquella información recibida en el ejercicio de la profesión. Se halla presente en todas las leyes de ejercicio y los códigos de ética o deontológicos, de allí su relevancia. Este deber no siempre es absoluto; nos encontramos en la praxis con situaciones que -por su carácter problemático o dilemáticoponen al profesional en posición de evaluar el mantenimiento o levantamiento del secreto profesional. El objetivo del trabajo es analizar las implicancias éticas, deontológicas y legales que involucra el secreto profesional en el ejercicio del psicólogo en una situación dilemática. La metodología será descriptiva e incluirá el análisis de un caso dentro de una institución pública de nivel medio que involucra a un adolescente vulnerado ante una situación de maltrato familiar. Entre las principales conclusiones pueden identificarse: la relevancia que tiene el posicionamiento ético en el ejercicio profesional, la primacía sobre el resguardo de la protección integral de la menor; el requerimiento de evaluar previamente la singularidad en situación y desarrollar de manera progresiva las intervenciones que mejor preserven, restituyan o reparen la situación de vulneración del menor. ANALYSIS OF A SCHOOL CASE The Professional Secret or duty of confidentiality is a norm that stipulates the obligation that the psychologist has to keep confidential all information received in the exercise of the profession. It is present in all the laws of exercise and codes of ethics or deontology, hence its relevance. This duty is not always absolute; we find ourselves in practice with situations that -because of their problematic or dilemmatic character- place the professional in a position to evaluate the maintenance or lifting of professional secrecy. The objective of the work is to analyze the ethical, deontological and legal implications that professional secrecy involves in the exercise of the psychologist in a dilemmatic situation. The methodology will be descriptive and will include the analysis of a case within a public institution of middle level that involves a vulnerable adolescent in a situation of family abuse. Among the main conclusions can be identified: the relevance of ethical positioning in the professional practice, the primacy over the protection of the integral protection of the minor; the requirement to previously evaluate the singularity in the situation and progressively develop the interventions that best preserve, restore or repair the situation of the minor’s violation.
