La gestación por sustitución es una técnica de alta complejidad médica que rompe con la representación social de maternidad y paternidad. Al mismo tiempo invita al profesional de la psicología a enfrentar nuevos retos profesionales. La misma consiste en la implantación de un embrión en el cuerpo de una mujer externa al proyecto parental. Mujer cuyo único deseo es gestar para otros ya sea de forma altruista o mediando un contrato económico entre las partes involucradas. Esta técnica de alta complejidad requiere de un abordaje interdisciplinario y es el profesional de la psicología quién deberá evaluar si gestante y requirentes (futuros padres) se encuentran en condiciones psicológicas para iniciar el tratamiento médico y recibir en un ambiente saludable al niño por nacer. ¿Se encuentran los profesionales de la salud mental preparados para enfrentar este nuevo desafío profesional? ¿Qué evaluar y cómo hacerlo? Se presentan los resultados preliminares de una investigación en curso en la que se encuestó a 40 profesionales de la psicología de los cuáles la mayor parte desconoce qué debe ser evaluado en este ámbito y cómo hacerlo. Palabras clave Gestación por sustitución - TRHA - Evaluación ABSTRACT PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION IN THE FIELD OF THE REPRODUCTIVE MEDICINE: THE CASE OF GESTATION BY REPLACEMENT The gestational surrogacy is a high complexity medical technique. At the same time it asks the psychologist to face the new challenges. This technique consists of implanting an embryo into the body of a woman who is an outsider in the couple´s project. The only desire of this woman is to give birth for other people from an altruistic point of view or by means of an economic contract between the parties involved. This high complexity technique requires to be interdisciplinarily treated and the psychologist is the professional who has to evaluate if the woman who is having the baby in her body and the future parents have the psychological conditions required to start the medical treatment and receive the still unborn baby in a healthy environment. Are the psychologists prepared to face this new professional challenge? What to evaluate and how to do it? Here are the results of a preliminary investigation that has not finished yet in which 40 psychologists were surveyed and most of them do not know what must be evaluated in this field and how to do it.
