Se analiza el efecto del nivel de severidad de la Demencia del paciente en estadios leve y moderado, sobre el sentimiento de sobrecarga experimentado por su cuidador informal. Se utilizó el diseño descriptivo-correlacional de corte transversal. El Cuestionario de Datos Generales y el “Caregiver Burden Interview” de Zarit fueron administrados a 114 cuidadoraes. Sobre la base de los resultados del MANOVA se puede concluir que: 1), el nivel de severidad del paciente (leve-moderado) no influye sobre el sentimiento de sobrecarga de su cuidador, al considerar los enunciados del “Caregiver Burden Interview” de Zarit en forma conjunta y 2) al analizar cada enunciado: a) el patrón de respuestas de los cuidadores es semejante en 13 de los 20 ítems, denotando mayor sobrecarga en aquellos que se refieren a la dependencia y demanda del paciente y su preocupación por el futuro del enfermo y b) en los 7 items restantes, las respuestas de los cuidadores de pacientes con mayor severidad de la enfermedad indican mayor sobrecarga, derivada de la creencia de pérdida de control de su salud, de su vida privada y social, y de su capacidad para el cuidado de este tipo de paciente. Palabras clave CuidadorInformal Sobrecarga Demencia Severidad ABSTRACT ANÁLYSIS OF THE BURDEN LEVEL RELATED TO INFORMAL CAREGIVERS OF PATIENTS WITH MILD AND MODERATE DEMENTIA The effect of the level of severity of the patient´s Dementia is analyzed in mild and moderate stage over the burden feeling experienced by its informal caregiver. With such aim, the descriptive-correlational design of cross section was used. The Questionnaire of General performances and the Caregiver Burden Interview of Zarit were administered to 114 subjects. On the basis of the results of MANOVA it is possible to conclude in the interviewed group that: 1) When considering the statements of Caregiver Burden Interview de Zarit in joint form, the level of severity of the patient (mild-moderate) does not influence on the feeling of burden of its caregiver. 2) When analyzing each statement: the pattern of answer of all the caregiver is similar in 13 of the 20 statements, denoting greater feeling of burden on those that talk about the dependency and demand of the patient towards their person and their preoccupation with the future of the patient. b) in the 7 remaining items, the profiles of answers of the caregiver of patients with different levels of severity (mild - moderate) are significantly different from each other, denoting greater burden than those that look after moderate stage.
