La percepción del tiempo constituye uno de los elementos fundamentales de la cognición que da sentido a las experiencias vividas, permite regular la conducta presente y anticipar el futuro (Zimbardo & Boyd, 1999). La investigación actual distingue entre las nociones de perspectiva temporal y orientación temporal, siendo la primera la distancia cognitiva en que se sitúan las experiencias vividas y las metas y, la segunda, la tendencia de las personas a centrarse en el pasado, el presente o el futuro (Díaz Morales, 2006). El objetivo de este trabajo es informar acerca de la adaptación argentina del Inventario de Perspectiva Temporal de Zimbardo (ZPTI, Zimbardo & Boyd, 1999) y, en forma preliminar, del análisis de sus propiedades psicométricas. Se administró la adaptación argentina a una muestra de personas adultas con edades entre 19 y 61 años (M=30.5; DE=13.9). La fiabilidad de los ítems en su conjunto fue satisfactoria (a= .71). El análisis según el sexo y la edad mostró que no hubo diferencias en las subescalas “pasado negativo”, “presente hedonista”, “futuro” ni “presente fatalista” aunque sí respecto de “pasado positivo” con puntuaciones más altas para las mujeres. Asimismo,los mayores mostraron más tendencia al“pasado positivo” y “futuro” que los jóvenes. Palabras Clave percepcion, orientacion, temporal, ZPTI. Abstract PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS OF THE ARGENTINE ADAPTATION OF THE ZIMBARDO TIME PERSPECTIVE INVENTORY (ZTPI) Timeperspectiveisafundamentalvariableinthecognitivesprocesses that gives meaning to past events, allows the regulation of present conduct and helps to anticipate future (Zimbardo & Boyd, 1999). In this investigation the notions of time perspective and time orientation are understood as different, the first one is the cognitive distance in wich past experiencess and goals are positioned, while the second one is the personal tendency to focus on the past, present or future (Díaz Morales, 2006). The objective of this presentation is to inform about the argentine adaptation of the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI; Zimbardo & Boyd, 1999) and a preliminary analysis of the psychometric properties of it. The Argentine adaptation was assess to a group adults, between the ages of 19 to 61 years old (M=30.5; SD=13.9). the items, as a whole, presents a satisfactory reliability (a= .71). Gender analysis showed no significant differences between in the subscales of “past negative”, “present hedonist”, “future” or “present fatalist” but there was a higher orientation on “past positive” on females. While on age analysis, no significant differences were recorded but older groups showed a higher tendecy to “past positive” and “future”. Key Words perspective time orientation ZTPI
