El actual gobierno uruguayo,en el contexto de su política de desarrollo rural, decide reabrir las Sociedades de Fomento Rural y contratar técnicos sociales (incluidos psicólogos) para elaborar e implementar proyectos estatales. Eso genera un encuentro inusual entre el psicólogo y los actores del territorio, ya que arriba a un ámbito rural donde su rol no es claro. Al técnico social se le demanda impulsar cambios sociales mediante la formación de grupos de productores y el fortalecimiento institucional (Landini y Bianqui, 2012), tarea generalmente impulsada desde la psicología comunitaria (Montero, 1994, 2004), que apunta a cambios sociales que se sostengan en los propios actores de esa realidad. Analizaré la posible dificultad del psicólogo para trabajar desde esa posición cuando es llamado “tecnico social”, visto como “asistente social” y trabaja con un equipo de perfil técnico-productivo.A esto se suma estar bajo el control de los organismos estatales que tiene su propia lógica de intervención (Lapalma, 2001). La inclusión del Psicólogo al ambito rural presenta un desafio para investigar su práctica (Rajchman, 2001) y la construcción de su rol en este ámbito. Este trabajo pretende ser parte de la sistematización de experiencias que aporten a esta construcción. Palabras Clave Psicología Rol Rural Uruguay Abstract ROLE OF THE PSYCHOLOGIST IN URUGUAYAN RURAL SOCIETIES The current government of Uruguay, in the context of rural development policy, decides to reopen the Rural Societies and hire social technicians (including psychologists) to develop and implement state projects. This creates an unusual encounter between the psychologist and the actors of the territory, because its role is unclear in a rural area. Social technician is requested to promote social changes through the formation of producer groups and institutional strengthening.(Landini and Bianqui,2012),a task usually driven from community psychology (Montero, 1994, 2004) which aim is to hold social changes on the actors of that reality. It will be analyzed the possible difficulty of the psychologist to work from that position when he is called “social technician” but is seen as “social worker” and works with a team of technical and production profile. In addition to that, this is under the control of state agencies which have their own logic of intervention (Lapalma, 2001). This inclusion of the psychologist into the rural field presents a challenge to investigate the practice (Rajchman, 2001) and the construction of its role in this area.
