Esta investigación se propone indagar las representaciones de la sociedad regional y del pueblo mapuche sobre el conflicto que afecta a ambas comunidades, centrando la atención en los conceptos de justicia e injusticia, expresados por personas de la Región de La Araucanía. Para estos efectos, el objetivo general del presente proyecto de investigación es explorar las representaciones sociales sobre la justicia/injusticia, en torno al “conflicto estado-nación y pueblo mapuche” en estudiantes universitarios de la Universidad de La Frontera de diversas carreras consideradas claves por su cercanía al conflicto (Agronomía, Psicología, Periodismo, Ingeniería Comercial), estableciendo las relaciones entre las representaciones sociales sobre la justicia/injusticia, en torno a este conflicto en los sujetos de distinto género,origen étnico y formación profesional.Para esto, se les aplicó la técnica de redes semánticas naturales de Valdéz (Valdéz & Hernández, 1986; Valdéz & Reyes, 1992, ambos en Valdéz, 1998), que consistió, básicamente, en entregar una hoja impresa con cuatro frases-estímulo acompañadas de dos columnas.Se les solicitó anotar en la primera columna un total de cinco palabras definidoras y en la segunda, jerarquizar estas palabras según su importancia, relación o cercanía con el estímulo presentado. Los resultados se examinan a la luz de investigaciones anteriores. Palabras Clave Justicia, mapuche, representaciones sociales Abstract SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS OFTHE CONCEPT OF JUSTICE/INJUSTICE IN THE “MAPUCHE CONFLICT”: A STUDY USING THE NATURAL SEMANTIC NETWORK TECHNIQUE This research aims to investigate the representations of the regional society and the Mapuche people about the conflict between both communities, focusing on the concepts of justice and injustice, as expressed by people in the Region of La Araucania. With this in mind, the overall objective of this project is to explore the social representations about justice/injustice in the “conflict nation-state and the Mapuche people” in university students from the University of La Frontera from different undergraduate degree, selected for their proximity to the conflict (Agronomy, Psychology, Journalism, Engineering), establishing relations between social representations about justice/injustice in this conflict in subjects of different gender, ethnicity and vocational training. For this, we applied the Valdez technique of natural semantic networks (Valdéz & Hernandez, 1986; Valdez & Reyes,1992,both inValdez,1998),which consisted basically in a printed sheet with four stimulus sentences accompanied by two columns.The students were asked to write down five defining words in the first column, and then, to rank these words according to their importance, relationship or proximity to the stimulus presented in the second column.
