El artículo indaga el fenómeno social del cuidado explorando las relaciones entre dos conceptos básicos de la teoría de la estructuración de Giddens: rutinización y seguridad ontológica. La realidad social es la producción y reproducción de rutinas de la vida social cotidiana que los agentes controlan a través del monitoreo reflexivo de las acciones. La conciencia práctica y la conciencia discursiva de la reflexividad de los agentes son el reverso de la rutinización de prácticas sociales recursivas. Este control reflexivo de rutinas predecibles depende del sistema básico de seguridad del agente: la seguridad ontológica. Este sentimiento de seguridad en la predictibilidad de las rutinas sociales deriva de una experiencia fundamental de la primera infancia: la confianza en el retorno del cuidador parental. Palabras Clave cuidado, rutinización, seguridad ontológica Abstract THE PROBLEM OF CARE: SOCIAL ROUTINIZATION, ONTOLOGICAL SECURITY This article considers the social phenomenon of care focusing on the study of relationship between two central concepts of Giddens’ theory of structuration: routinization and ontological security. The social reality is the production and reproduction of the ordinary routines of day-to-day life that agents control through the reflexive monitoring of actions.The practical consciousness and the discursive consciousness of the reflexivity of agents are the reverse of the routinization of recursive social practices. This reflexive control of the predictable routines depends upon the basic security system of the agent: the ontological security. This feeling of security in the predictable of social routines derives from a fundamental experience of early childhood: the trust in the parental caretaker’s return.
