La inscripción de jóvenes en el profesorado universitario en educación física (PUEF) de la UNLu Delegación San Fernando, registrado desde 2008 queda menguada durante el primer año por el abandono de muchos estudiantes. Este fenómeno no es privativo de la UNLu, sino extensivo a universidades tanto del país como del exterior, quienes abordan la problemática de la deserción tratando de mejorar las estrategias de inclusión. De la diversidad de factores que pueden incidir en tal deserción este trabajo se propone 1) analizar características sociodemográficas de una muestra de cursantes de primer año del profesorado y 2) describir variables referidas al rendimiento intelectual (Test de Matrices Progresivas de Raven Escala General). Resultados: se destaca la heterogeneidad en el perfil sociodemográfico. El rendimiento intelectual del 57 % de la muestra es igual o inferior al percentil 50.Las exigencias académicas universitarias colocan en situación de mayor riesgo educativo al 12,3 % de los estudiantes cuyos rendimientos se ubican en el percentil 10 o menos. Los hallazgos convocan al claustro docente a reflexionar sobre aspiraciones de las asignaturas, instancias de nivelación y orientación educativa y tutorial. But this phenomenon is not exclusive to UNLu, it is also extended to universities both in our country and abroad, who deal with the problem of dropouts in university trying to improve the strategies for inclusion.Among the diversity of factors that may affect such dropouts, this paper is intended to describe: 1) the demographic profile of the students of first year professoriate, 2) the variables referred to intellectual performance (Raven Progressive Matrices, General Scale). Results: it is highlighted the heterogeneity in the demographic profile. The intellectual performance of 57% of the sample is equal or less than percentile 50. The University academic requirements place in major educative risk to the 12,3% of students with performance of 10 percentile or less. These findings propose to the teaching clusters to reflect regarding the subject-matter objectives, instances of levelling, educational guidance and tutorial actions.
