Este trabajo se propone realizar un abordaje amplio de la teoría de la ideología de Louis Althusser a efectos de destacar su alcance y pertinencia para el análisis de distintas coyunturas sociales, evitando las simplificaciones rápidas y disuasorias de la complejidad que la ideología adquiere para el autor. Para ello se emprende una tarea de discusión y reflexión teórica alrededor de sus tesis más difundidas sobre la ideología, desplegándolas en el contexto más extenso de conceptualización del autor en la materia, y arriesgando una lectura particular acerca de la función de soporte (Tragër). Asimismo, se revisan tales tesis en función de sus autocríticas y de las críticas de Terry Eagleton, del marxismo anglosajón. Por último, se vierten algunas consideraciones en torno al papel de los sujetos -ideológicos por definición- en la historia. Sobre esta vía, se verá que, por un lado, se observa la elaboración de una teoría general sobre la ideología y, por otro, se propone abordarla desde la perspectiva de la lucha de clases. Ahora bien, antes de tener que elegir por un enfoque, se demuestra la compatibilidad que existe entre ambos y cómo su conjunción permite otorgarle a la teoría de la ideología su alcance más amplio. Palabras Clave Relación imaginaria, Reconocimiento/Desconocimiento, Soporte, Lucha de Clases Abstract ALTHUSSER AND IDEOLOGY´S THEORY This paper is an attempt to make a wide approximation to Louis Althusser´s ideology theory in the way of emphasizing its reach and appropriateness for the analysis of different social circumstances, avoiding the fast and dissuasive simplifications of the complexity that ideology acquires for the author. For that, there´s a work of theorical discussion and reflection about his most known thesis on ideology, displaying them in the widest context of author theorization on the topic, and risking a particular interpretation toward the support (Tragër) function. Also, those thesis are reviewed around the Althusser´s self-critical and the Terry Eagleton ones, from the anglo-saxon Marxism. Finally, there are some considerations around the place of the subjects -ideological in the first way- in history. On this way, it will be showed that, in one hand, there´s a making of a general theory of ideology and, in the other hand, there´s a need of taking it in the perspective of class struggle. But, before chosing for one of these points of view, there´s a demonstration of how they are compatibility and how their conjunction gives ideology´s theory to have its longest reach.
