Em face de observações do comportamento de condutores diante de dispositivos de fiscalização eletrônica de velocidade (DFEV) na cidade do Rio de Janeiro desligados, foi realizada a observação de 50 motoristas de veículos automotores que passaram por um DFEV situado no bairro de Campo Grande. Posteriormente, foi realizada a entrevista estruturada de outros 50 condutores investigando se estes tinham conhecimento do status inoperante do DFEV; se mesmo sabendo deste status, estes reduziam a velocidade ao passar por ele; e, por quais razões. Dos condutores observados, 100% reduziram a velocidade ao passar pelo DFEV. Apenas 12% dos participantes relataram saber do fato, mas 100% destes relatou reduzir a velocidade ao passar por estes dispositivos. Os condutores apresentaram respostas, cujo conteúdo evidenciou sobretudo o comportamento de medo, como fator que o levava a reduzir a velocidade ao passar pelo DFEV em questão. Apenas um participante relatou que o fazia por considerar que era o correto a ser feito. Os resultados são discutidos à luz dos conteúdos do condicionamento skinneriano, acerca dos elementos reforçadores deste comportamento, da punição e do efeito desta punição exercida por agência controladoras, comportamentos de dissonância cognitiva, transferenciais e de desamparo aprendido foram também identificados entre os conteúdos analisados. Palabras clave Trânsito, Condicionamento operante, Reforço, Punição ABSTRACT IDENTIFICATION OF CONDITIONED BEHAVIORS IN CONDUCTORS FACING ELECTRONIC SPEED MONITORING DEVICES In the face of observations of the behavior of drivers who passed through electronic speed control devices (ESCD) in the city of Rio de Janeiro disconnected, 50 drivers of motor vehicles were observed, passing through an ESCD. Subsequently, a structured interview of 50 other drivers was carried out, investigating whether they were aware of the inoperative status of the ESCD; if even knowing this status, they reduced the speed when passing through it; and for what reasons. Of the observed drivers, 100% reduced the speed when passing through the ESCD. Only 12% of participants reported knowing of the fact,but 100% of these reported slowing down when passing through these devices.The drivers revealed the behavior of fear, as a factor that led him to reduce the speed when passing through the ESCD in question. Only one participant reported that he did so because he felt it was the right thing to do. The results are discussed in the light of the content of Skinner’s conditioning, about the reinforcing elements of this behavior, the punishment and the effect of this punishment exerted by controlling agencies, behaviors of cognitive dissonance, transference and learned helplessness were also identified among the contents analyzed.
