Existe una falta de oferta de servicios de atención en Salud Mental en San Juan del Río, Qro. en especial para la población infantil. Para resolver problemas de salud mental de niños y niñas, las familias deben acudir al Centro Estatal de Salud Mental que se encuentra a 60 km, en Querétaro. Se aplicó una encuesta a 27 padres de niños y niñas de 5 de 15 años con problemas de salud mental de San Juan del Río, Qro., por medio de un muestreo no probabilístico. El objetivo fue caracterizar las problemáticas vinculadas la atención en salud mental de estos niños y niñas. La atención en Salud Mental en San Juan del Río está obstaculizada, en primer lugar, por la falta de efectores locales que brinden la misma. El diagnóstico más prevalente en esta población, es el de TDA con o sin hiperactividad. Algunos padres y madres consideran que la atención que requieren sus hijos va más allá de la atención psicológica, psiquiátrica y/o neurológica. Los padres y madres de estos niños, dan cuenta de una falta de red de contención para aliviar el sufrimiento que implica el padecimiento de sus hijos.
