El objetivo del presente estudio es investigar los efectos de la dominancia manual en el rendimiento en el Trail Making Test (TMT). El objetivo de este test es realizar un trazado uniendo los círculos ubicados en una página de forma semi azarosa; la resolución de la tarea implica un trazado circular de derecha a izquierda, obstaculizándoles la búsqueda visual a personas zurdas especialmente. La prueba consta de: Parte A donde deben unirse los números en orden creciente y Parte B donde se unen números y letras alternándolos. Esta investigación indaga acerca de la necesidad de una forma alternativa para individuos con preferencia manual izquierda. Se espera encontrar diferencias significativas intra e intergrupo (diestrso versus zurdos), donde los sujetos diestros rindan mejor en las formas originales del TMT y los zurdos en las formas invertidas. El TMT fue administrado a 40 participantes argentinos, entre 20 y 40 años con al menos 12 años de escolaridad 20 diestros y 20 sujetos que autorreportaban escribir con la mano izquierda. Ningún participante presentaba deterioro cognitivo (MMSE<27) ni sintomatología depresiva significativa (BDI-II<13). El total de los individuos realizaron ambas partes (A y B) del TMT original y a su vez una versión espejada de cada parte (TMT Invertido). This test consists of tracing a path by joining the circles located on a page in a semi-random manner; the resolution of the task involves a clockwise tracing, which hinders the visual search especially for left-handed people. There are two parts to the test: In Part A numbers must be connected in increasing order and in Part B numbers and letters are connected alternately.This research investigates the need for an alternative form for individuals with left hand preference. It is expected to find significant intra and intergroup differences, where right-handed subjects perform better on the original TMT forms and left-handed individuals on the mirrored forms. The TMT was administered to 40 Argentine participants aged 20-40 years old with at least 12 years of education: 20 right-handed and 20 subjects who self-report left-hand preference for writing. No participants had cognitive impairments (MMSE <27) or significant depressive symptomatology (BDI-II <13).
