La MSPSS focaliza en la percepción del apoyo social, discriminando sus fuentes específicas: familia, amigos y otro significativo. Es autoadministrada, de rápida respuesta y aplicable a múltiples áreas, siendo utilizada mayormente en Psicología Social y de la Salud. Hay antecedentes de adaptaciones de la MSPSS para Hispanoamérica, pero en ellos no alcanzó una estructura factorial adecuada. De allí que en una primera adaptación a población adulta de la región rioplatense, se volviera al formato de siete valores para las opciones de respuesta, alcanzándose una estructura factorial satisfactoria. Sin embargo, las escalas de “Amigos” y aún más en “Familia”, continuaron presentado una muy fuerte asimetría negativa derivada de “efecto techo” en casi todos los ítems que las conforman. Se presenta aquí una nueva adaptación que, a partir de la modificación del contenido de las siete opciones de respuesta (de “grado de acuerdo” a “frecuencia”), logra atenuar la asimetría negativa manteniendo la estructura factorial de tres factores de la escala original. También alcanza resultados satisfactorios en confiabilidad, tanto mediante el análisis de la consistencia interna de las tres subescalas como el análisis de la estabilidad, con el método test-retest. Por lo que se puede dar por exitosamente concluido el proceso de adaptación. It is self-administered and rapid responsed. It is possible to apply the MSPSSS in multiple areas, but it has been used mainly in Social Psychology and of the Health. There are precedents of adapting the MSPSS in Spanish America, but they did not reach the suitable factorial structure. Thus, in the first adjustment to adult population of the River Plate area, the adaptation has returned to the format of seven points for the response options and so obtained the suitable factorial structure. Nevertheless, the “Friends” and even more the “Family” subscales keep presenting a very strong negative asymmetry derived of “ceiling effect” in almost all their items. The poster shows a new adaptation that is able to attenuate the negative asymmetry maintaining the three factors structure of the original scale, by changing the content of the seven response options (from an agreement to a frequency scale form). It also reaches a satisfactory reliability, so much by the analysis of the internal consistency of the three subescales like by the method test-retest.
