Este trabajo tiene como objetivo revisar las modulaciones que Lacan realiza sobre el primer atributo que Saussure otorga al signo lingüístico: el principio de arbitrariedad. De este modo el lingüista califica el lazo que une al significante y al significado. A continuación, nos detendremos en dos reflexiones de Lacan con respecto al tema. En la primera de ellas, Lacan sitúa lo que denominará un callejón sin salida. En sus elaboraciones reconduce el debate sobre la relación entre el significante y el significado, a la antigua polémica entre sofistas y convencionalistas de la cual testimonia Platón en su diálogo Crátilo. En su segunda reflexión, Lacan prefiere el término de “arbitraje” al de “arbitrariedad” propuesto por de Saussure. Para desentrañar esta afirmación ubicaremos la distribución lógica de Aristóteles en las distintas proposiciones afirmativas y negativas. A modo de conclusión, intentaremos dar cuenta de cómo se evidencia el libre arbitrio en las diferentes respuestas de consentimiento a la regla fundamental planteada en el dispositivo analítico. Allí, el ser hablante es invitado a hacer la experiencia de jugar el juego del libre arbitrio que posibilita el desanudamiento de lo que hasta entonces había sido soldadura arbitraria entre significante y significado. Palabras clave Arbitrariedad, Arbitrio, Signo lingüístico, Contingencia Abstract TIQUE Y AUTÓMATON: ARBITRAMENT AND ARBITRARINESS This work proposes to check the modulations that Lacan realizes on the first attribute that Saussure gives to the linguistic sign: the condition of arbitrariness. Thus the linguist qualifies the bow that joins the significant one and the meaning. We will detain later in two Lacan’s reflections with regard to the topic. In the first one of them, Lacan places what will name a blind alley. In his elaborations he re-leads the debate on the relation between the significant and the meaning to the former polemic between quibblers and conventionalists of which Plato bears witness in his dialogue Crátilo. In his second reflection, Lacan prefers the term of “arbitration” to that of “arbitrariness” proposed for Saussure. To uncover this affirmation we will locate Aristotle’s logical distribution in the different affirmative and negative propositions. Like conclusion, we will try to explain how the free arbitrament is demonstrated in the different answers of assent to the fundamental rule. Then, the speaking-being is invited to play the game of the free arbitrament that makes possible to separate what till then had been an arbitrary weld between significant and meaning.
