El objetivo de este estudio consistió en indagar las representaciones sociales de los adolescentes escolarizados de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (CABA) sobre la política. Resulta relevante investigar este problema en adolescentes dado que los pocos estudios que se conocen hasta el momento realizados en el contexto local, se han ocupado de estudiantes universitarios o adultos. Con esta finalidad se administró la técnica de asociación de palabras con el término inductor política a estudiantes secundarios de la CABA con edades entre 17-18 años (n=233). Los resultados obtenidos revelan que los términos asociados con “política” en mayor proporción fueron corrupción, presidente, políticos y gobierno. También, se destacan mentira, injusta, poder, nación y dinero. Esto último resulta coherente con los trabajos previos realizados que indican un rechazo explícito de los jóvenes por la política lo cual podría explicar su baja participación en la misma. PRELIMINARY RESULTS The purpose of this study was to investigate the social representations of teenagers attending school in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires have as regards politics. In spite of the fact that a few studies on this issue have been already conducted in the local context, they were focused only on college students or adults, therefore, it is relevant to investigate the impact of this issue on teenagers. In order to achieve this, the method of association of words was applied using the word politics as the inductive term. Such study was conducted on teenagers between 17 and 18 years old, residing in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and attending secondary school (sample=233). The findings of the above mentioned study showed that teenagers associated the term “politics” mostly with the following words: corruption, president, politicians and government. In a minor proportion also appear: lie, unfair, power, nation and money. Such findings are consistent with previous studies indicating an explicit rejection of politics by young people which may explain their low political participation.
