Se presentan resultados parciales de una investigación etnográfica en curso, sobre las vicisitudes de las mujeres víctimas de violencia en su transitar por los senderos del control formal, representado por sus instituciones principales: la policía y la justicia, que se lleva a cabo en la ciudad de San Luis y el Municipio aledaño de Juana Koslay. Ante la ausencia de instituciones específicas, generalmente, se acude en tales circunstancias a la policía que, por ello, juega un papel fundamental en el aseguramiento de la aplicación de la legalidad. El origen de ciertos problemas que presenta el acceso a la justicia para las mujeres víctimas de violencia, podría encontrarse en una actuación policial deficiente y discriminatoria, especialmente cuando se trata de hechos sucedidos en la esfera privada. Para indagar el procedimiento que se aplica en estos casos y la perspectiva desde la que actúa la policía, se han entrevistado 130 efectivos, de distinto rango, que trabajan en las siete comisarías distribuidas en el contexto geográfico de la investigación. En ésta primera entrega se abordan las dificultades de tipificación y registros estadísticos en la problemática de la violencia familiar, a partir de la percepción de miembros de la institución. LOUIS Partial results of an ongoing ethnographic research about the vicissitudes of female victims of violence going through the formal control paths, represented by its key institutions: the police and justice, taking place in the city St. Louis and the surrounding municipality of Juana Koslay are shown. In the absence of specific institutions, generally, they go in such circumstances to the police; therefore, it plays a fundamental role in ensuring the application of the law. The origin of certain problems in the access to justice for women victims of violence might be in a biased and discriminatory policing, especially when it comes to events that occurred in the private sphere. To investigate the procedure applied in these cases and the perspective from which the police act 130 members, of different ranks, working in the seven stations distributed in the geographical context of the investigation have been interviewed. In this first approach the difficulties of definition and statistical records in the problematic of violence, from the perception of members of the institution are taken into account.
