El objetivo de la presente investigación es: 1. Detectar e identificar las estrategias que utiliza un bebe no vidente en el desarrollo de su inteligencia sensorio motriz. 2.Construir la Grilla Argentina de estrategias cognoscitivas para bebés ciegos (G.A.E.C.C.). 3.Diseño de juguetes específicos para la comprobar la adquisición de dichas estrategias. La investigación se realizó con una población de 31 bebés que concurrieron al Servicio en 50 oportunidades, hasta junio del 2011.La edad de los bebés oscila entre 6 meses y 3 años. Hemos evaluado a los bebés utilizando la grilla construida y se observó que tres (3) niños presentan estrategias inadecuadas con su desarrollo y ubicándolo en el espectro autistas. Veinte (20) niños adquieren estrategias adecuadas con su nivel de desarrollo cognoscitivo y ocho (8) niños alcanzan un nivel de desarrollo cognoscitivo mas bajo que lo esperable por su edad. De acuerdo con estos datos el 60% de la población alcanza el nivel adecuado de desarrollo cognoscitivo. Palabras clave Bebes No videntes Cognoscitivas ABSTRACT THE COGNITIVE STRATEGIES OF BLIND BABIES The aim of the research is to detect the cognitive strategies and the characteristics of the process through which blind infants accomplish developmental achievements. The study began in the year 2006, from the question proposed by a professional in early stimulation of children, who is in charge or the early stimulation service at a special education school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The research question was: How is the specific process trough which blind infants - different from seeing infants- achieve an adequate level of cognitive development in the first three years of life? The objective of the research was to develop an observation instrument that allows the detection of stages regarding the cognitive development in blind babies. The results of the study allowed identifying the strategies used by blind infants regarding the development of sensory motor intelligence, to elaborate an Argentinean scale of cognitive strategies for blind infants, and also to design specific toys that allow assessing the achievement of the mentioned strategies. The sample of the present study is composed by 31 infants, aged between 6 months and 3 gentina years old, who attended to the cognitive service for babies at CIIPME-CONICET. The results showed that 60% of the assessed blind infants achieved an adequate level in the cognitive development. Key words Blind Infants Cognitive Strategies
