Este trabajo se enmarca en una investigación UBACYT llevado a cabo por la cátedra II de historia de la psicología. En este primer momento exploratorio la investigación se propone, a través del trabajo con fuentes documentales, dar cuenta de los cambios en la creación de instituciones de salud que hayan tenido implicancia en el área de la psicología. El presente artículo sitúa los momentos de fundación de las diferentes instituciones de asistencia de salud mental en Argentina, rastrea los objetivos que se proponían, la orientación acerca de lo que se consideraba terapéutico y la acción de sus más destacados profesionales. Se pretende diferenciar las instituciones según el modo de conceptualizar al enfermo. Se realiza una periodización de acuerdo al tipo de instituciones creadas y al ideario que las sostiene. In this first exploratory moment the investigation proposes, by the work with documentary sources, to realize the changes in the creation of institutions of health that have had implication in the area of the psychology. The present article places the moments of foundation of the different institutions of assistance of mental health in Argentina, traces the objectives they had, the orientation brings over of what was considered to be therapeutic and the action of his more out-standing professionals. One tries to differentiate the institutions according to the way of conceptualizing the patient. Timing was realized according the type of institution and the ideology that supports them.
