El presente trabajo aborda reflexiones surgidas de investigaciones de una maestría en Psicología Social e Institucional, en la Universidad Federal de Río Grande do Sul (UFRGS), en Porto Alegre-Brasil. Se trata de una investigación interdisciplinaria entre Artes Visuales, Estudios Feministas y Psicología Social. Su metodología se basa en la cartografía y la interseccionalidad. Su principal objetivo es problematizar las narrativas coloniales presentes en el espacio público de la ciudad a través de su arquitectura y monumentos heroicos de figuras colonizadoras. La herramienta utilizada para hacerlo son intervenciones con performances artísticas queer, como drag art o escenificaciones con personas cuir/kuir (como se escribe queer en Brasil). Se considera que la fotografía y puede conducir a una disputa archivística y de imaginarios sociales respecto de determinadas poblaciones, combatiendo una interpretación hegemónica de las subjetividades cuir/kuir. La cuestión ética se refiere tanto a este punto como a la discusión sobre preservar identidades que ya son vulnerables y exponer sus narrativas de violencia. ¿Cómo preservar una cierta opacidad de las identidades? ¿Cómo crear narrativas más complejas entre la producción de resistencia y violencia a través del uso de imágenes? Para responder, utilizo los conceptos de “opacidad” y “hacer visible sin hacerlo público”. Palabras clave Ética - Minorias sexuales - Interseccionalidad - Arte ABSTRACT RESEARCH WITH IMAGES AND PHOTOGRAPHY IN SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY FIELD: ETHICAL ISSUES RELATED TO ITS USE WITH SOCIALLY VULNERABLE PEOPLE The present work addresses reflections arising from ongoing master’s research, in Social and Institutional Psychology, at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), in Porto Alegre-Brazil. It is an interdisciplinary investigation between the fields of Visual Arts, Feminist Studies and Social Psychology. Its methodology is based on cartography and intersectionality. Its main objective is to highlight the colonial narratives perpetuated in the city’s public space, through its architecture and heroic monuments of colonizing figures. The tool used to do so are interventions with queer artistic performances, such as drag art or staging scenes with cuir/kuir people (as queer is spelled in Brazil). It is considered that photography and images can lead to an archival and social imaginary dispute regarding certain populations, combating a hegemonic interpretation of cuir/kuir subjectivities. The ethical issue refers both to this point and to the discussion about preserving identities that are already vulnerable and having their narratives of violence exposed. How to preserve a certain opacity of identities? How to create more complex narratives between the production of resistance and violence through the use of images?
