En el presente trabajo se aborda la complejidad de las interconsultas en los servicios hospitalarios, donde se enfrentan diversos desafíos, como la comunicación inadecuada y la impotencia médica ante la resistencia del paciente a curarse o la proximidad de la muerte. A través de viñetas clínicas, se evidencian situaciones donde la escucha activa y la comprensión de la subjetividad del paciente son fundamentales para mejorar la atención. Se destaca la importancia de restituir la función médica en la comunicación de malas noticias y la necesidad de reconocer las emociones que surgen al enfrentarse al sufrimiento ajeno. Además, se reflexiona sobre la temporalidad de las intervenciones y los espacios hospitalarios como contextos donde se encuentran cuerpos vulnerables. El trabajo invita a repensar el rol del interconsultor de salud mental y la necesidad de abordar integralmente la atención hospitalaria, considerando tanto la dimensión física como la emocional de los pacientes y profesionales de la salud. Palabras clave Interconsulta - Salud mental - Muerte ABSTRACT INTERCONSULTATION: CROSSING AREA, DIFFICULTY AND POSSIBILITY This work addresses the complexity of interconsultations in hospital services, where various challenges are faced, such as inadequate communication and medical helplessness in the face of the patient’s resistance to cure or the proximity of death. Through clinical vignettes, situations are evident where active listening and understanding of the patient’s subjectivity are essential to improve care. The importance of restoring the medical function in the communication of bad news and the need to recognize the emotions that arise when facing the suffering of others is highlighted. Furthermore, we reflect on the temporality of interventions and hospital spaces as contexts where vulnerable bodies are found. The work invites us to rethink the role of the mental health interconsultant and the need to comprehensively address hospital care, considering both the physical and emotional dimensions of patients and health professionals.
