En el presente trabajo se rastrearán algunas de las versiones del amor que se pueden encontrar en lo que se conoce como la primera enseñanza de Jacques Lacan. Allí introduce sus tres registros Real, Simbólico e Imaginario, con los cuales retorna y lee la enseñanza de Freud. En este primer tramo de su enseñanza, el registro de lo Simbólico modifica a los otros dos registros por el hecho mismo de su introducción, resaltando el desvío que se produjo en la lectura posfreudiana hacia el registro Imaginario. Resaltando lo Simbólico, partimos del hecho de que hay una solidaridad indisoluble entre el lenguaje y el ser hablante, pero al mismo tiempo hay una antinomia, una no- relación, entre la palabra (como acto, lo vivo, el habla) y el lenguaje (vocablo, inerte). En esta línea el amor, el goce y el deseo pueden pensarse como los modos en que el ser hablante es afectado por el lenguaje, presentando a priori dos modalidades posibles, algunas que quedarían del lado del padecimiento e incluso de lo invivible y otras que al establecer una conexión con la castración o con la palabra plena, serían al menos más vivibles e interesantes.
