Nos propusimos investigar y analizar el perfil del psicólogo en general, en una muestra de estudiantes de psicología. El modelo de Personalidad de Millon y su Inventario de Estilos de Personalidad (MIPS), nos resultó interesante y apropiado para esa investigación. Millon sostiene que en los estilos de personalidad se produce una “… intersección entre modos cognitivos, metas motivacionales y conductas interpersonales (que) son el reflejo de la historia de transacciones entre el individuo y su ambiente a lo largo de la vida” En el presente trabajo nuestro objetivo es analizar las características de los modos cognitivos en la muestra recolectada, para identificar rasgos sobresalientes y característicos del proceso de pensar. Metodología: Se administró el MIPS a 118 sujetos, alumnos de Psicología. Se utilizó el método del Análisis de la Varianza (ANOVA). Resultados: predominio de las escalas extraversión, sensación, afectividad e innovación. Conclusiones: Los resultados arrojados resultan muy interesantes a los fines de pensar y definir el perfil psicológico de la muestra recogida. RESEARCH IN STUDENTS OF PSYCHOLOGY We propose to start researching and analyzing the profile of the psychologist in general, in a sample of student. Personality model of Theodore Millon and his Inventory Personality Styles (MIPS), is interesting and appropriate to the investigation. Millon argues that in personality styles there is an “intersection between Thinking Styles, Motivating Styles and Behaving Styles, that are a reflection of the history of transactions between individuals and their environment throughout life. In this paper we will focus on the cognitive modes. Our goal is to analyze the characteristics of Thinking Styles in the sample of students of Psychology collected, in order to identify outstanding and characteristic features. Millon considered the various traits and cognitive styles were not included as key elements in most of the instruments that assess personality. Methodology: we administrated the MIPS to 118 subjects students. We used the method of analysis of variance (ANOVA). RESULTS: we found a predominance of Externally Focused, Realistic/Sensing, FeelingGuided, and Innovation-Seeking, which have a clear link with the professional role of the psychologist. Conclusions: Results are very interesting in order to think and define the psychological profile of the collected sample of psychology students and professionals.
