La investigación sobre el ciberbullying comenzó a principios del siglo XXI y el número de estudios sobre el tema ha aumentado rápidamente. No obstante, los criterios para definir el fenómeno y las estrategias de evaluación aún están siendo debatidos. Esta revisión de las definiciones actualmente existentes se realizó en el marco del relevamiento del estado del arte del Proyecto de investigación “Validez y fiabilidad del Cuestionario de Ciber Agresión en una muestra de estudiantes argentinos” perteneciente a la Licenciatura en Psicología de la Universidad de Ciencias Empresariales y Sociales. El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar las definiciones existentes para identificar los obstáculos detectados en las mismas. Hasta el momento, la mayoría de los investigadores han dirigido sus esfuerzos a aplicar y adecuar los criterios de operacionalización del bullying tradicional a las conductas de agresión que se producen en entornos cibernéticos. Estos presentan características únicas que dificultan la aplicación de los criterios de operacionalización del bullying establecidos por D. Olweus (1993) y consensuados por la comunidad científica. Argumentamos que, tal como lo señalan Mc Guckin C., Corcoran L. y Prentice G. (2015) es tiempo de dirigir nuestra atención a la ciber agresión en lugar de insistir con sostener el foco en el ciberbullying. A REVIEW OF EXISTING DEFINITIONS OF CYBERBASED PEER-TO-PEER AGGRESSION Research about Cyberbullying began in the early twenty-first century and the number of studies on the subject has increased rapidly. However, the criteria for defining the phenomenon and evaluation strategies are still being debated. This review of the definitions existing performed under the survey of the state of the art made at the research project “Validity and reliability of the Cyber aggression Questionnaire in a sample of argentinian students” belonging to the Degree in Psychology at the University of Business and Social Sciences. The aim of this paper is to analyze existing definitions to identify the difficulties encountered in them. So far, most researchers have directed their efforts to implement and adapt the criteria for traditional bullying operationalization of the aggressive behaviors that occur in networked environments. They have unique characteristics that hinder the application of the criteria established by Olweus D. (1993) and agreed by the scientific community for the operationalization of bullying.We argue that, as noted by Mc Guckin C., Corcoran L. and G. Prentice (2015) it is time to turn our attention to the cyber aggression instead of insisting sustain the focus on cyberbullying. Key words Cyberbullying, Bullying, Cyber aggression, Evaluation
