El presente trabajo describe una experiencia que se desarrolló en una Universidad de la Ciudad de Quito-Ecuador, donde estudiantes del primer año de la carrera de Medicina, solicitaban el cese de su matrícula durante las primeras semanas del ciclo académico. Dentro de las principales razones por las que los jóvenes tomaban esta decisión estaban: la situación socio-económica familiar, las dificultades académicas con algunos docentes y una sensación de inseguridad respecto a la elección de carrera. Para el análisis de esta experiencia se consideró la idea de “andamiaje” de Jerome Bruner, trabajada por Courtney Cazden (1991) respecto a la intervención realizada por los agentes psicoeducativos a través del discurso en el aula. A partir de ahí, se posibilitó una “reconceptualización” que permitió forjar en los estudiantes nuevos modos de analizar las diversas problemáticas presentadas. Por otra parte, se abordó “la construcción guiada y la construcción compartida del conocimiento”, conceptos estudiados por Neil Mercer (1997). Además, se vinculó dos sistemas de actividad, la familia y la institución educativa, de acuerdo a la propuesta de Yrjö Engeström (2001). Por último, se plantea la idea acerca de las “violencias que ejerce la institución sobre los estudiantes” en base al trabajo de Cristina Erausquín (2013). Palabras clave Universidad, Elección de carrera, Intervención, Nuevos métodos para analizar ABSTRACT DROP OUT UNIVERSITY: SOME EXPERIENCES AND INTERVENTIONS The present work describes an experience that occurred in a University from the City of Quito in Ecuador, where students from first year of the Medicine career requested the cessation of their tuition during the first weeks of the academic cycle. Between the main reasons for which they decided to this we highlight: family socioeconomic situation, academic difficulties with some teachers and insecurity feelings regarding their career choice. For the analysis of this experience the Scaffolding Theory of Jerome Bruner was taken into consideration worked by Courtney Cazden (1991) regarding the intervention performed by the psychoeducative agents along the classroom’s speech. Starting from there a “reconceptualization” was made available, that allowed forging in the students new methods to analyze the diverse problems presented. On the other side, it was also approach “The guided construction of knowledge”, concepts studied by Neil Mercer (1997). Also, two activity systems were bound, the family and the educative institution, according to the proposal of Yrjö Engeström (2001). Ultimately, is also propounded the idea about “Violence exerted by the institution on the students” according to the job of Cristina Erausquín (2013).
