En la Argentina la oferta de salud se estructura en tres subsectores de atención: el privado, el de la seguridad social y el público. La aproximación a instituciones Hospitalarias y Unidades Sanitarias de La Plata y Gran La Plata, nos posibilitó indagar los paradigmas desde los cuales el Psicólogo ejerce su rol, a partir de un análisis de la modalidad de trabajo (interdisciplinario - institucional - comunitario - etc.), las nuevas demandas (stress, alcoholismo, depresión, violencia familiar, entre otras), el contexto, así como los facilitadores, las limitaciones y obstaculizadores en su desempeño. La inserción del Psicólogo en el equipo de salud se legitima a partir de los aportes que éste realiza desde los marcos teóricos y las técnicas propias de la disciplina, "la Psicología", pudiendo dirigir sus acciones hacia la promoción y prevención de la salud de la población. Al dirigir sus esfuerzos hacia la salud y no hacia la enfermedad, se destaca que es en el campo de lo sano y trabajando en orientaciones preventivas, donde la psicología puedehacersusmásgenuinosymejoresaportes.Promoviendo así conductas saludables.
