La McGill Illness Narrative Interview es una entrevista semiestructurada diseñada para obtener narrativas de enfermedad, y que se destaca por su capacidad de indagar sobre las atribuciones respecto de la salud y la enfermedad, y por su sensibilidad cultural. En el presente trabajo, la autora reflexiona respecto de la potencialidad en cuanto a la aplicación de esta entrevista en dolencias crónicas tales como fibromialgia, epilepsia y crisis no epilépticas de origen psicógeno. Dada la complejidad que supone el tratamiento de las enfermedades crónicas, en las cuales se ponen en juego diversos factores -tales como la atribución de la enfermedad, la percepción de la calidad de vida, la interacción del paciente con su contexto, el impacto en el estilo de vida, la relación con el sistema médico y los efectos secundarios de los fármacos-, se hace necesario indagar de manera exhaustiva cuestiones tales como las atribuciones y significados respecto la enfermedad del paciente, las cuales muchas veces son omitidas en las consultas con los especialistas. A partir de los análisis preliminares de las entrevistas realizadas, la autora destaca el aporte que puede significar para las disciplinas de salud mental la implementación de esta entrevista en contextos clínicos. Palabras clave Entrevista MINI, Investigación cualitativa, Psicología de la Salud, Enfermedades Crónicas ABSTRACT CONTRIBUTIONS OF A SEMI-STRUCTURED QUALITATIVE INTERVIEW FOR THE STUDY OF CHRONIC DISEASES The McGill Illness Narrative Interview is a semi structured interview designed to elicit narratives of illness, which stands out for its ability to investigate about attributions of health and illness, as well as for its cultural sensitivity. In this paper, the author reflects on the potential of the application of this interview in chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia, epilepsy and psychogenic non-epileptic seizures. Given the complexity of the treatment of chronic diseases, in which are brought into play factors that exceed the definition of the disease from the biomedical point of view -as involves the illness attributions, perception of quality of life, patient interaction with their context and their significant others, the impact on the lifestyle, the burden of medical treatment, the relationship with the medical system and side-effects of drugs, it is necessary to thoroughly investigate issues such as the meanings regarding the illness, both of the patient and their social and family context, which are often omitted in consultations with specialists. From preliminary analysis of the interviews, the author highlights the contribution of the implementation of this interview in clinical settings for mental health disciplines, especially in the implementation of psychoeducational strategies and specific psychological treatments.
