Durante toda su historia el hombre occidental ha tendido y sigue tendiendo a considerarse el centro de hechos, procesos, mundos. Demostrar que se es importante ya sea a nivel individual o en la sociedad, ha sido y es una de sus preocupaciones fundamentales. Proyectada sobre terreno astronómico esta obsesión produjo, hace 2.500 años, un modelo de universo que colocaba a la Tierra en su centro. Cuando los grandes astrónomos del Renacimiento establecieron el verdadero aspecto del sistema solar, se dijo que si bien la Tierra no era el centro del Universo, lo era entonces el Sol. Luego una segunda gran revolución ubica al sistema solar en la perisferia de una galaxia constituida por millones de otros sistemas estelares. La tercera gran revolución describe los trabajos de Einstein y Hubble que culminaron sacando a la Vía Láctea del centro del universo. Los ultimos descubrimientos llevaron a la cuarta gran revolución cosmológica: el universo no sólo está en expansión sino que cada vez lo hace más rápido. El presente trabajo relaciona el interrogante del hombre a través de la historia, con respecto al lugar que ocupa en el universo, con el desarrollo del niño, planteado por Piaget. Palabras clave Egocentrismo Reversibilidad Pensamiento Deductivo ABSTRACT ABOUT THE DECENTERING OF INDIVIDUALS AND THE UNIVERSE EXPANSION During his entire History and even today, western men has tended to consider himself as the center of Facts, process and worlds. Demonstrate that we are important as individuals or as part of a society had been and still is one of our major concerns. Projected over an astronomical field, this obsession led, 2500 years ago, to a model of Universe which considered Earth in the center of it. When the great astronomers from the Renaissance set the true image of our Solar System, despite Earth did not remain as the center of it, the Sun took its place.The second great revolution the scientist considered that the place of our Solar System was in the periphery of a galaxy composed by millions of other star systems. Third great revolution describes the work of Einstein and Hubble, which ended up expelling our Milky Way out of the center of the Universe. Astronomical discoveries of the last ten years led to the fourth great revolution: Universe is not only expanding but it is even doing it faster. The present work aims to underline this continuum question of men all through History, concerning the place that we hold in the Universe, with the target/intention to compare it with Piaget’s Child Development Theory.
