Entre las enormes e impresionantes paradojas del invento freudiano puede localizarse que aunque la determinación es inconsciente, el sujeto es responsable de dicha determinación. Pero además del determinismo, la cuestión de la libertad y del sentido, es apelada por Freud para referirse a la elección de la neurosis. Por tanto si hay elección hay algo más allá de la determinación. Por su parte, Lacan consideró que la libertad de elección es constitutiva del ser hablante. Aún aquello que le ocurre accidentalmente lo afecta como sujeto de una elección, y su respuesta conlleva una toma de posición. A lo largo de un tratamiento se pueden ubicar elecciones y decisiones que hacen posible el encuentro con el analista: la decisión de consultar, la respuesta a las interpretaciones, la activación transferencial de la resistencia a la sugestión, los cambios de posición subjetiva, la decisión de analizarse, etc. La pregunta que adviene como ineludible es desde que lugar se decide, quién decide. En este trabajo me propongo interrogar los conceptos de elección y decisión a fin de ser pensados en un recorrido analítico, desde su comienzo hasta la conclusión institucional.
