Se presenta un análisis sobre la construcción de la memoria social y los modos de recordar y olvidar. Los datos analizados parten del trabajo de campo realizado en la comunidad mapuche Mariano Epulef, ubicada en la provincia de Chubut, Argentina. En el modo en que los sujetos narran su historia, se crean interpretaciones del pasado que se vinculan con el sentido de pertenencia a la comunidad. Retomando las conceptualizaciones de Halbwachs sobre los marcos temporales y espaciales de la memoria colectiva y la noción de Nora de lugares de memoria, se analizan los recuerdos compartidos en la narrativa histórica de la fundación de la comunidad. En la narrativa fundacional se consideran los recuerdos que legitiman las tierras otorgadas, el inicio de clases escolares, la llegada del cacique fundador de la comunidad y los años en los que transcurren estos eventos, pensados en tanto reconocimiento legal y estatal y en la inclusión de la historia local a la historia nacional. Palabras clave Memoria Narraciones Pasado Comunidad ABSTRACT PLACES OF MEMORY IN THE FOUNDATIONAL NARRATIVE OF A MAPUCHE COMMUNITY There is an analysis on the social construction of memory and ways of remembering and forgetting. The analyzed data are based on the fieldwork carried out in the mapuche community Epulef Mariano, located in the province of Chubut, Argentina. In the mode in which the subjects tell their stories, they create interpretations of the past that are linked to the sense of belonging to the community. Returning Halbwachs conceptualizations of temporal and spatial frameworks of collective memory and the notion of places of memory from Nora, we analyze the memories shared in the historical narrative of the founding of the community. In the foundational narrative are considered the memories that legitimate the lands granted, the start of school classes, the arrival of the chief founder of the community and the years in which these events pass, intended as legal recognition and state and the inclusion of local history to national history.
