Existe mucha producción acerca del Secreto Profesional en Psicología, sobre todo en lo que hace a su contextualización conceptual, al principio de intimidad que protege y a los límites de la norma. El Hábeas Data tiene que entenderse como un instrumento procesal de desarrollo en la lucha por la vigencia de los derechos constitucionales. No puede concebirse ni entenderse con un propósito restrictivo en relación a lo que ya el hombre ha logrado con el Hábeas Corpus y el Amparo. No obstante en los últimos años, sobre todo con el avance de la tecnología informática, el estado ha debido legislar en cuestiones que atañen al resguardo de la información y ello fue plasmado en la Ley de Habeas Data.
