La presentación de enfermos es una práctica heredada de la enseñanza médica. Las presentaciones realizadas en el ámbito de la medicina responden a una fuerte tradición en la cual la concepción del saber y del maestro adquiere un lugar destacado. Si bien Lacan extrajo este ejercicio del campo médico, su antecedente psiquiátrico no constituyó un obstáculo para que pudiera sostener esa práctica a título de psicoanalista. Su particular manera de interrogar y su posición respecto del entrevistado imprimieron modificaciones en el dispositivo convirtiendo la mostración clásica en una entrevista. Este trabajo se centrará en las presentaciones de enfermos como una modalidad posible de enseñanza y se tomará como punto de partida el antecedente médico del dispositivo para luego precisar las modificaciones que introdujo Lacan. Se circunscribirá así la estrecha relación que existe entre el modo de utilización del dispositivo y la concepción de la clínica y de su enseñanza, en tanto la modalidad adoptada tiene incidencia en aquello que se enseña. The presentations in the field of medicine correspond to a strong tradition in which the conception of knowledge and the teacher becomes a role. While Lacan extracted from the medical field this practice, his psychiatric history was not an obstacle to that could sustain such a practice as a psychoanalyst.
