En el presente trabajo se realiza un análisis del lugar del padre y del ideal en la posmodernidad. Declinación, caída, desvanecimiento son algunos términos que describen en la actualidad, el destino del lugar del Otro respecto de su localización tradicional. El territorio de la religión y la ciencia, una como suplencia, otra como discurso universalizante serán objeto de observación. Asimismo se ubicará el valor del síntoma como relevo, y también como portador de saber, y de goce. Frente a las clasificaciones globalizantes y meramente descriptivas, es necesario reubicar al Psicoanálisis en tanto se sostiene como experiencia de la singularidad. Asimismo la propuesta es reconocer que la subjetividad requiere de la dimensión del Otro. Lacan planteó que el psicoanálisis tiene que ubicarse como el reverso del discurso del período que le toca vivir. ¿Cómo provocar, (en los tiempos que corren) ese reverso?
