El trabajo apunta a delinear las condiciones específicas de lo que se denomina “interpretación” en psicoanálisis. Parte del hecho de que el hablante de por sí “interpreta”, ya que no hay sentido unívoco. La interpretación analítica brota entre la poesía y la ilusión de un sentido; por lo tanto si la pasión del yo es interpretar, la interpretación que se especifica como “psicoanalítica” debería justificar su sesgo. Se denomina “condición parlêtre”, a la condición necesaria a la interpretación: “no puede concebirse la interpretación analítica sin ese suelo”. Se llega entonces al valor de la literalidad en la interpretación psicoanalítica distinguiéndola de lo que se denomina “interpretación analógica”.
