Se intentará indagar en el contexto histórico, haciendo hincapié fundamentalmente en las condiciones discursivas, del momento en el que se plantea por primera vez el empleo del término bioética. Es en la Alemania de entreguerras, cuando el religioso Fritz Jarh, basado en los imperativos kantianos, apela a la responsabilidad del hombre en el resguardo del conjunto de lo viviente. Se trabajará con un recorte de la novela de Tomas Mann, “La montaña mágica” y con las ideas centrales del texto de Giorgio Agamben “Lo abierto. El hombre y el animal”, para interrogar la subjetividad de la época.
