Nuestra contemporaneidad, colmada de Otros vacíos, muestra los tropiezos del Ideal en su intento de erigirse en borde del goce. Su inoperancia en encauzar al deseo arrastra al sujeto hacia el desborde pulsional. El sujeto no encuentra seguridad en el Otro que, reducido a un semblante, se alza como un tirano que lo empuja en una búsqueda alocada de goce, incapaz de hallar emblemas identificatorios que lo orienten. El adolescente resulta particularmente afectado por estas configuraciones epocales y responde ofrendando-se tanáticamente, procurando hallar algún exutorio a las imposiciones del discurso capitalista.
