En el presente trabajo se realizará un breve recorrido por la historia de la infancia centrándose específicamente en la etapa denominada Modernidad y Posmodernidad. En base a ello se intentará pesquisar cuáles han sido las diferentes concepciones de la niñez y las principales transformaciones que dicho concepto ha sufrido. Luego se pretende analizar cuál es la situación social y jurídica en la que se encuentran niños/as y describir como los conceptos de autonomía y autodeterminación han sido centrales en la construcción de la infancia moderna hasta la actualidad. Por último se explicará porque se considera que la niñez es un colectivo que no cuenta con la capacidad legal para consentir, al momento de ser participantes en un proceso de investigación psicológica, y en función de esto poder determinar qué sucede con la figura del asentimiento en su estrecha relación con la autonomía, considerando a los derechos humanos como eje transversal de dichos tópicos. Palabras clave Niños/as, Asentimiento, Psicología, Investigación ABSTRACT RESEARCH IN PSYCHOLOGY: CHILDHOOD CONCEPTUALIZATIONS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH ASSENT, AUTONOMY AND HUMAN RIGHTS In this paper, a brief tour will be taken through the history of childhood with a special focus on the Modernity and Postmodernity stage. On this basis, we will try to research what were the different conceptions of childhood and the major changes this concept has gone through. Then, we intend to analyse the social and legal situation in which children are, and to describe how the concepts of autonomy and self-determination have been crucial to the construction of modern childhood until now. Finally, it will be explained why childhood is considered as a group that does not have the legal capacity to consent when participating in a process of psychological research; and depending on this we will try to determine what happens with the figure of assent in its close relationship with autonomy, considering human rights as a central focus of these topics.
