El trabajo trata sobre la posibilidad teórica de transmitir mensajes entre dos mentes a partir de decodificar las señales neurales asociadas a la idea de un sujeto emisor y su posterior encodificación en un sujeto receptor. Al inicio se contextualiza el problema dentro del marco del programa de la denominada neurotelepatía activa, programa de investigación en neurociencia cuya meta radica en la lectura de contenidos mentales a partir de la identificación de su neurología subyacente. Específicamente, refiere a un dispositivo experimental donde un sujeto coopera voluntariamente concentrándose en un idea seleccionada dentro de un set mayor, en pos de que un sistema neurotecnológico (e.g. resonancia magnética funcional o RFMI) pueda determinarla con un porcentaje de acierto. Posteriormente, se generaliza el dispositivo experimental para converger hacia una interfaz cerebro a cerebro que incluiría a un segundo sujeto que actuaría como receptor. Se especula que en esta versión de la neuro telepatía, al problema de la lectura se le adicionaría el problema de la escritura de contenidos mentales, cuestión que se presenta con un grado de dificultad ostensiblemente mayor al de la lectura. Por último, se distingue entre modos de transmisión de contenidos precisos (i.e. textos o imágenes simples) en contraposición con estados ideativos donde el contenido a transmitir presenta contornos borrosos. Initially the problem is contextualized within the framework of the so-called active neuro-telepathy that is a neuroscience research program whose goal lies in the mental contents reading from the identification of its underlying neurology. It refers specifically to an experimental device where a subject voluntarily cooperates concentrating on an idea selected within a larger set, towards a neuro-technological system (e.g. functional magnetic resonance imaging or fMRI) may determine with a success rate. Subsequently, the experimental device is generalized to converge towards a brain-to-brain interface that would include a second subject that would act as receiver. There is speculation that in this version of the neuro-telepathy, to the problem of reading would be added the problem of mental content writing, issue that shows a significantly higher degree of difficulty. Finally, it is made a distinction between modes of transmission of specific contents (i.e. simple texts or images) as opposed to ideational states where the content to send has blurred contours.
