Esta ponencia sintetiza los principales resultados de una investigación mixta, cuali cuantitativa, orientada a comprender los significados y actitudes que construyen hombres y mujeres, consumidores y no consumidores, ante el consumo habitual de drogas, en el sector La Matriz del Barrio Puerto de Valparaíso.Según esto, se convocó a diversas disciplinas de la comunidad académica de la UST a participar de un operativo social que otorgó atenciones profesionales a los habitantes de la comunidad identificada, dando inicio desde el aprendizaje servicio, a prácticas profesionales y procesos de investigación, desde el Trabajo Social, favoreciendo el estudio de uno de los problemas sociales que más afecta al sector: el consumo de alcohol y drogas, intentando salir de la perspectiva tradicional experta biomédica en el estudio y tratamiento de esta problemática, hasta aproximarse a una visión más social, que desde el socio construccionismo y la teoría de la acción razonada, considera la experiencia de los habitantes del sector, y cómo éstos, desde los significados y actitudes que atribuyen hacia este problema compartido, caracterizan su espacio público y las condiciones de posibilidad de construcción de un sentido de ciudadanía socialmente responsable, desde ellos y otros actores sociales, que aporte en la resolución de las condiciones de pobreza, desigualdad social, estigmatización y marginación que los afectan. Palabras clave Alcohol, Drogas, Espacio público, Responsabilidad social territorial ABSTRACT ALCOHOL AND DRUGS: AN INTEGRATED VIEW AT THE MEANINGS AND ATTITUDES CAUSING HABITUAL CONSUMPTION AMONG THE INHABITANTS FROM PUERTO NEIGHBORHOOD IN VALPARAISO, CHILE. A RESEARCH FROM PUBLIC SPACE AND TERRITORIAL SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY This paper summarizes the main results of a mixed research, qualitative and quantitative, aimed to understand the meanings and attitudes built by men and women, consumers and non-consumers, in relation to the habitual drug consumption, in the neighborhood called La Matriz, Barrio Puerto in Valparaíso. Because of that, different academic disciplines from UST were invited to participate in a social operation which offered professional assistance to the inhabitants from the identified community, beginning with service learning, professional internships and investigation processes from the Social Work point of view contributing to one of the biggest social problems affecting this place: alcohol and drug consumption; thus, the aim is to leave behind the traditional biomedical perspective towards the study and treatment of this problem and become closer to a social vision which, from the constructionism to the theory of reasoned action, considers the experience of the people living there and how they characterized their public space from the meanings and attitudes about the shared problem, and how they build a sense of social responsible citizenship, from their side and other social actors in order to help solving poor conditions, social inequality, stigmatization and marginalization affecting them.
